Louisville Magazine- September

Here are some pieces I had in Louisville Magazine this month:

Mary Welp wrote her column on summer tomatoes from the Root Cellar. I went and bought some there to paint and then I ate them right after with some good fresh mozzarella and basil.

Broom2Jack Welch’s “Just Sayin” was about Sweeping the issue of Homelessness under the rug.

futurekitchenThis piece accompanied Anne Marshall’s piece about the GE Exhibit at the Cressman Center about the future of appliances.

VSA Arts Inclusion Awards

Hey Kentucky teachers (in both public and private schools)! Did you know that you can receive a $1250.00 grant to do a hands-on, inclusionary arts project that interfaces with your curriculum and KCAS? I am on the roster for VSA Kentucky as a teaching artist and I would love to come to your classroom to do a visual arts project with you and your students. Check it out:

Lewisburg Mural Project

I spent six days at Lewisburg School in Logan County, Kentucky, where I worked with over 200 students in grades 3-8 to create a large permanent mural on a wall in the school. The theme of the mural was based on a program the school has been using called “The Leader in Me.” The Lewisburg Tree in the center of the mural is filled with silhouettes of actual students in the school acting out various poses related to being a leader, a good citizen, and thinking about future goals, college, and careers. The local newspaper, The News Democratic Leader, even came out and did a feature story on our mural!
